Hunting Strategies: Mobile Setups & Prep

For serious mobile bowhunters, there is little room for error when selecting a hunting location. Wind direction, shot options, tree size, and cover all effect where you are able to setup your ambush.

Most of these variables can be eliminated through proper scouting during offseason months. But what if time is running out before season or your in a new location you've never been to? Then a Mobile Setup might be your new passion. Mobile setups are any “tree fixtures” that are carried into the woods with you for the hunt and then carried back out with you. They can be hangon platform stands, climber stands, or (our new favorite) tree saddles. Along with nonpermanent tree steps and mobile climbing sticks.

Most states prohibit the use of screw-in tree steps and gear hooks while on public land which eliminates a few possibilities, but there are many workarounds that have been proven successful. 👉🏼Check out our video on “The Best Hunting Gear Hanger” for public land hunting Mobile stands are perfect for when haling that heavy fixed stand or ladder is out of the question, when you are on public land, and when you want to get push deep and get to those hard to access areas.

Mobility is the key here and mobile hunting can at times be challenging, but the dividends are rewarding. Having the options and freedom to hunt in different locations based on changing conditions is a huge advantage. Just make sure your setup is ready to go. Mobile setups require a little bit of skill and setting up in the dark for the first time can be cumbersome.

Like we mentioned in this week's podcast episode, be sure to practice a few times before the big show either in your back yard or on public land nearby. See what works, and what doesn’t work, so you can fine-tune your setup and eliminate as many errors as possible giving you the best possible odds of smoked that big buck this fall.
